These dumbells are quite nice, durable, and reasonably priced for and adjustable set.

I use these 3 times a week and they are great. Sliding them on and off the holder is at times a bit difficult to align but slow and steady gets the job done. I can't imagine the other kinds don't have similar experience. These just work. Only thing I'd like is if they could go between the 5s, like 2.5 lb increments. But I knew that when I purchased great product. Grip is solid but may be a bit large for small hands. Weight adjustment is solid and I'm not worried they will fall out. I'm happy with these.

Thought I would give these some time before I reviewed them. They are well made. I have been using them consistently for 4 months now. They are not the kind of hex bells you can dump on the floor just because of the nature of how they are built. That said, if you have limited space like I do in my apartment and don't typically throw your dumbbells around anyway, these work great. The dial is really handy and you get an audible "click" when you make an adjustment. The numbers are clearly labeled on both sides of the unit. Grip is solid. They can be removed with no trouble and put back into the base with limited effort (Other than lining up the unit with the base which one could expect from an adjustable dumbbell). In ending money well spent. CAP has some really decent products that don't cost an arm and a leg.

I’m 50 and just getting back into a workout routine, and the CAP Barbell Adjustabell has been perfect for me. It’s incredibly easy to adjust weights—from lighter for warm-ups to heavier for strength training—and switching between exercises is smooth and fast thanks to the dial mechanism.
The handle has a good grip, even with sweaty palms, and the compact design fits neatly in my home gym space, saving me the hassle of storing multiple dumbbells. I’ve been able to do a full range of moves, curls, presses, rows, even squats without feeling awkward. The adjustment process is intuitive and quick, so I stay focused on my form and reps.
While these aren’t the most heavy-duty dumbbells out there, they’ve been solid for beginner-to-intermediate use. That extra convenience of not having a big set of weights cluttering up my space is worth it.
Overall, if you’re starting or restarting your fitness journey later in life, this dumbbell is a fantastic tool. It’s reliable, easy to use, and great value for what it offers.

In Short: A really nice set of adjustable dumbbells. There are a few areas for improvement here and there, but this set can easily replace a full rack of weights for most workouts!
The Longer Story: One of the downsides of getting older is that you have to take better care of your health, which means more rigorous exercise and a focus on strength. While browsing through Facebook Marketplace, I initially bought some single-weight dumbbells, but I soon realized that different exercises require different weights to train different muscle groups optimally. I am far from a pro athlete – I train about once a week – but it became painfully obvious that, for me, a 20lb weight was insufficient for a goblet squat, yet way too heavy for a lateral arm raise. Keeping a ton of cast iron lying around wasn't ideal, so I finally went the route of adjustable weights.
These CAP dumbbells work well. They have an interesting mechanism where the weight can only be changed when the dumbbell is "docked" in its cradle. You simply rotate the center grip to adjust the weight in 5lb intervals (from 10lbs up to 55lbs), and the dumbbell symmetrically loads the plates on both sides. Unlike other adjustable sets, this allows you to set the weight with a single rapid movement. The only downside to this specific design is that you cannot load the sides unevenly for more obscure exercises (theoretically possible if you remove a plate from just one side, see the video). Another small downside are the not perfectly flat surfaces on the sides of the dumbbell – this makes laying them down "on the side" (vertically) a bit less stable and wobbly.
The unit is very solidly built – not surprising considering the weight it has to carry. I would not necessarily toss it on the ground, but it feels reassuring enough to do overhead raises without fear of getting hit by loose weighs. As long as you are not doing any rapid-movement shenanigans with heavy weights, the loading mechanics should not be a concern. One specific feature I love is the hex shape; I use dumbbells for pushup variations, so having a set that doesn't roll away is a major plus.
So, why not five stars? There are a few quirks. As you can see/hear in the video, you have to be quite delicate with the alignment of the grip inside the cradle. This can get annoying after an exhausting set where fine motor skills are fading; if you place them in a crooked fashion, the adjustment mechanism won't trigger (which is actually a great safety feature). Acoustically, you can hear the mechanism rattling a bit when you shake them, especially at lower weights. Finally, I personally would have preferred 2.5lb intervals for better fine-tuning of weights.
Overall, these are minor gripes. This is a great set of adjustable dumbbells that saves a ton of space. It’s a perfect addition to my beginner workout routine, allowing me to easily experiment with different weights!

This is a very handy and compact way to have a complete set of dumbbells. Normally, lighter weight dumbbells are smaller than heavier ones, so these feel a bit odd, at first, when using a lower weights. But it's the weight that counts, so no stars deducted. Internals include some plastic parts, but they seem sturdy and there is an overall feeling of quality here. They feel solid and the detents in the twist system are positive. Some say it is hard to twist the grip, but that is better than having it twist accidentally during use and letting a weight drop out onto your foot. So just consider the stiff twisting another exercise. You're supposed to be using these to build muscles, right?

I bought these adjustable dumbbells for use at a second home, and I’m honestly impressed. They’re easy to use and I like them just as much as my Bowflex set at my primary home. In fact, the center-trap handle adjustment is actually easier and more intuitive than the Bowflex, which requires changing each side individually. These also seem to slide into the tray more smoothly, which is a nice bonus.
The only thing I can’t comment on yet is long-term durability…time will tell. But based on my first few sessions, I’m really glad I took a chance on these. So far, they’re a great value.

After opening the box it smelled really bad like wd40 I wiped it down then I noticed a lot of oil on the handles. The dumbbell weights already had paint coming off and poorly made. The chrome part is poorly sprayed on.
Update I just tested this dumbbell and played around with the weights and inside is made of plastic which can break. Then I noticed the orange lock button on the bottom of the dumbbell that is spouse to lock the dumbbells. But it jams so the weights can fall off. Both of the dumbbells in orange button jams and you have to wiggle the dumbbells around
